"Promoting Prevention and Healthy Choices in Grand Isle County by Connecting Our Communities and Resources."

GICCT is a Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition established in 2005. We are dedicated to promoting safe and healthy choices by connecting our community and our resources. We coordinate with our local schools, businesses and civic organizations to bring a variety of opportunities to the community including the Big Shabang!
Our partner prevention coalitions in northwestern Vermont are Franklin County Caring Communities and the Franklin Grand Isle Tobacco Prevention Coalition. We are also a member of the Franklin Grand Isle Regional Prevention Collaborative. GICCT is a recipient of the Building Healthy Communities grant.

Are Parents Addicted to Enabling?

Enabling PSA
Drug Free.org's new television public service announcements (PSAs) have parents talking. Part of a campaign titled "Emotional Drugs," these spots shed light not only on the harmful behavior of teen drug and alcohol use, but on what parents do, or don’t do, to intervene in their child's substance abuse.
Directed by Phil Joanou, Jr., son of Phil Joanou, one of the founding members of The Partnership at Drugfree.org, the PSAs demonstrate how parents' emotions – avoidance, fear, enabling, shame – are just as powerful and dangerous as drugs themselves.
We encourage you to view and share the new "Denial" and "Enabling" PSAs with friends and visit their Emotional Drugs Facebook app, which was created as a hands-on resource for parents and allows them to share stories, get help and find encouragement to intervene
